Context

Lumen Cloud had strong product-market fit but a brand that read as interchangeable with a dozen competitors. Ahead of a funding round, leadership needed the market — and investors — to see Lumen as a category leader, not another point solution.

Challenge

Marketing had been reactive: campaigns tied to feature launches, no consistent point of view, and a content library that didn't reflect the sophistication of the buyer. Sales cycles were long, and prospects couldn't articulate why Lumen over alternatives.

Strategic insight

Buyers weren't choosing on features — they were choosing on who understood their operating problem best. Lumen's advantage wasn't a feature list; it was a sharper diagnosis of why infrastructure decisions were failing teams. That became the strategic center of everything after.

Approach

We rebuilt Lumen's positioning around that diagnosis, then aligned every channel to reinforce it:

  • A repositioned narrative anchored in the buyer's operating problem, not product features
  • An editorial content system replacing feature-announcement content
  • A measurement framework connecting content directly to pipeline stage movement

Creative execution

Visual identity shifted from generic SaaS blues to a more editorial, confident system. Content moved from "how the product works" to "how the best teams are solving this problem," positioning Lumen as the informed guide rather than the vendor.

Deliverables

Repositioning framework, messaging architecture, editorial content system and calendar, updated site narrative, attribution and reporting model.

"Strategic, direct, and refreshingly unpretentious for an agency this sharp. Manifest didn't just make us look better — they made our story make sense."
